Janet Giles, founder of JobZone, LLC began her recruitment career as a contracting specialist for the federal government. Most recently, while serving as the Transition Assistance Program Manager and Job Fair Coordinator at Naval District Washington, West Area, her emphasis was primarily focused on transitioning military to the civilian workforce. A large part of her recruitment and program management role has included helping hundreds of job seekers develop a career plan, write a resume, prepare for their first interview, and counsel right through the hiring phase. She utilizes an extensive database of employers and job seekers, sending out a large number of job postings to job seekers, which ultimately expedites the hiring process. From 2000 to the present, she significantly increased the networking for both employers, transitioning military members, and civilians in King George County/Dahlgren, Fredericksburg, Stafford, Woodbridge, Richmond, Charlottesville, Culpeper, Lynchburg, Roanoke, Waldorf, D.C., and the Philly area (S. Jersey, Delaware, New York, and Pennsylvania).  JobZone actively markets the surrounding military bases in the Metropolitan D.C. area to include Anacostia, Annapolis, Fort Meade, Fort Myer, Navy Yard, Quantico, VA & MD National Guard, Andrews AFB, Bolling AFB, Patuxent River NAS, and Fort Belvoir.  JobZone has conducted a Wounded Warrior at Camp Lejeune and is in the process of working on other Wounded Warrior/Military career events in Fort Eustis and other areas nationwide. Andrews AFB Top 3 Association sponsors JobZone Job Fairs 2 times per year; The Fleet and Family Support Center-Patuxent River NAS 3 times per year, and Community Service-Employment Readiness-Fort Belvoir 4 times per year.

As the founder of JobZone, Janet continues her recruiting services offering job fairs, career events, and/or guidance in career development, to meet the needs of employers, colleges, and job seekers. Janet has built a successful network of job seekers, employers, recruiters, military representation and associations, and her reputation and networking acclaim continues to rise.  She works with various veterans' agencies to conduct Veterans conferences and job fairs in Central Virginia and Baltimore.

Janet's experience and training in career development, recruiting, and networking, as well as her extensive management, marketing and sales background in the industrial community, have coincided to meet the needs of both the employer and job seeker.

Janet is a member of the Fredericksburg Regional Chamber of Commerce (King George, Fredericksburg, Charlottesville), Navy League, Dahlgren's Local Breakfast Club, Rotary Club International, Patuxent River Partnership in Southern Maryland, and a member of the Association of Job Search Training. She is a graduate of Virginia Polytechnic Institute & State University with a B.S. in Marketing. She attended George Mason University and completed graduate courses in Counseling and Assessment Training.

I am very excited about joining the JobZone team and assisting with the monthly events.  I am originally from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and moved to Fredericksburg 15 years ago.  I completed my Bachelor of Science degree in Education at Edinboro University of Pennsylvania.  I moved to Fredericksburg in 1995 and began teaching German in Stafford County Public Schools.  I taught for 3 years then began working on my Master’s degree in Education at Virginia Commonwealth University. 

After I completed my Master’s Degree in 2001, I became a School Counselor.  In addition to counseling, I helped students with college and vocational school research and career planning.  I provided educational workshops on completing college and job applications, creating resumes and interviewing skills.  I was a School Counselor for 11 years. 

I always worked part-time as a therapist while working in the school system.  I counseled children of all ages and taught parenting skills classes and communication skills classes to adults.  In 2009 I began working as a therapist full time.   After 11 years in the counseling and clinical field, I am ready to take my career in a new direction, which has led me to JobZone.  As Marketing Coordinator, I am thrilled about working with JobZone, the companies and businesses, and job seekers.
