Job Title:           Psychological Health (PH) Program Coordinator

USMC Wounded Warrior Program

Location:                 Quantico, VA

Job Description:  Assist the USMC Wounded Warrior Regiment (WWR) Headquarters with policy and procedure development; education and training development; and outreach issues for Marines indentified as having served during OIF/OEF who are experiencing PH issues. Support the WWR by monitoring the PH program, reports, and continuum of care plan. PH Subject Matter Experts (SME) for WWR and serve as SME on multi-disciplinary teams to develop, improve care, and outcomes plans with a focus on removing barriers for the Marine and family. Maintain a repository of PH support resources. Assist with improving chain of command strategic communications of PH programs to report status of activities, progress of WWR members and activities in a more succinct and timely manner. Assist in development of PH Training Program for USMC leadership and every Marine. Consult and coordinate with the Defense Center for Excellence (DCoE) for PH with purpose of collecting up-to-date information that can assist with development in policy, programs, training, and reporting required by WWR.  Maintain cooperative relationship with DoD, Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), and DCoE in the national collaborative PH networks to advance knowledge, enhance clinical and management approaches, and facilitate other vital services to best serve the urgent and enduring needs of Marines and warrior families. Work closely with Wounded Warrior Operations Center (WWOC) and other federal and non-federal partners to conduct literature reviews and research, and analyze policy suitable for impacting PH treatment and services. 

Required Education and Skills

Master’s degree, Licensed Social Worker, or an Adult Psychiatric & Mental Health Nurse Specialist (PMHNP-BC) certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center, or Physicians Assistant or Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner, with a minimum of five years experience in PH. Ability to speak and understand English a must. Excellent telephone, verbal and written communications skills. Computer literate with Microsoft Office products. Ability to work independently. Ability to converse with and brief senior Marine Corps leaders. Current certification American Heart Association (AHA) basic life support for health care providers; or, AHA health care provider course; or, AHA Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) for the Professional Rescuer; or, equivalent. Familiarity with Armed Forces Health Longitudinal Technology Application (AHLTA) [formerly CHCS II; US DoD military health system] and Marine Corps Wounded, Injured, Ill Tracking System (MCWIITS), is a plus.

 

Required Experience

Clinical License issued in State of Practice. Prior Marine Corps experience as an officer or senior NCO or Marine Corps experience as a spouse or family member. Experience in dealing with individuals and families undergoing stressful, life-changing situations. Familiarity with the Marine Corps Wounded Warrior Program, its mission and goals.

Job Title:           Registered Nurse – Case Manager, Referral Coordinator         

                          USMC Wounded Warrior Program

Locations:              (1) Quantico, Virginia                             (1) Camp LaJeune, North Carolina

Job Description

Clinically assess Marines who are referred to the Coordinator. Make initial contact with the referred Marine by phone within 48 hours of receipt of the referral.  Determine any psychological health (PH) or traumatic brain injury (TBI) issues that may require health care or mental health care services.  Provide initial outreach telephone calls to all Marines indentified by the Marine Corps as having served during OIF/OEF to determine whether they require additional assessment for possible PH or TBI issues. Assist the Marine with Line of duty determination processing. Ensure the Marine receives required medical care and other services [Veteran Affairs (VA), civilian mental health, chaplain, support group, etc.]. Assist in developing an Individual Recovery Transition Plan. Follow each Marine through to the resolution of his/her case.  Facilitate access to PH and TBI support resources. Consult with multiple, multi-disciplinary teams at Military Treatment Facilities (MTF) and with clinical and non-clinical case managers across the continuum of care.  Establish, maintain and update a case file on each referred Marine.
