Our Job Fair at the Community Center Building is the perfect place to make a good first impression and start networking your way to a career!

From Route 1 North -  
turn Right via TULLEY GATE if you do not have a decal nor military ID.

Turn Right across from Hess Gas Station on left to Tulley Gate.  Follow thru Check Point.  Be prepared to show Driver’s License.  Continue on Pohick Road through 2nd Traffic light.  Pohick Road turns into 12th Street.  Take a Left on Belvoir Road. 
Look for a sign on Right that reads “Community Center”. Take a Right on Taylor to Community Center Building. 

From Route 1 North - turn Right via PENCE GATE (2nd Gate driving Rt. 1 N) if you have appropriate decal and Military ID.  Turn Left on Taylor Road to Community Center after passing new hospital under construction.

Old Dominion University’s Military Career Transition Program (MCTP) is a specially designed program for military members, spouses, government employees and the Coast Guard to take their vast knowledge and experience and apply it towards teaching our nation’s children.  The program accepts individuals with a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution and at least six years of work experience and applies their knowledge towards the requirements of the program.

 

Upon completion of the program, our students earn a Masters of Science in Education with a VA state licensure that, through the National Reciprocity Agreement, can be transferred to 48 other states and the three U.S. territories. 

The MCTP courseware is geared toward the specific age group that our students wish to teach.  The programs include courses to teach grades Pk-6, 6-8, or 6-12 (subject focus required in English, math, science or social studies).  The classes are offered here at Ft. Belvoir, Ft. Myer, The Pentagon and/or online. 

The Military Career Transition Program is an approved Troops to Teachers program.  Troops to Teachers provides a monetary stipend to those interested in teaching in high need school districts across the nation.  Old Dominion University works closely with Troops to Teachers representatives to provide guidance to individuals as they prepare to transition from the military into teaching careers.
